The Jet Press FP790 is opening the door for us to take on jobs that previously would have been difficult to manage.

Bernd Böckmann | Head of Printing Department | Delo

Delo, one of Europe’s largest flexographic printing companies, has become the second site outside of Japan, after UK-based Eco Flexibles, to install Fujifilm’s Jet Press FP790 digital inkjet press for flexible packaging. The installation, completed in January 2025, underlines Delo’s commitment to combining its world-class flexographic expertise with the latest in digital technology to meet changing customer demands.

Founded in 1961, the family-owned business has around 400 employees and operates one of the most advanced flexible packaging plants in Europe. Serving a wide range of markets, Delo produces packaging for applications spanning food, hygiene, household and beyond.

With 17 wide-web flexographic printing machines, and two more in the process of being installed, along with extrusion, lamination and slitting departments, Delo is a true powerhouse in conventional printing. But as customer expectations evolve, the business recognised the need for a complementary digital solution capable of handling both short-run and mainstream production volumes.

Bernd Böckmann, Head of Printing Department at Delo, comments: “Short runs are the big game changer at the moment. If customers have jobs that are too small to run viably on flexo, but still demand the same quality, digital is the answer. We believe in digital, not only to reduce the flexo workload, but because it represents a special market in its own right and will increasingly become part of mainstream volume production.”

The ability to deliver packaging at speed is a key advantage: “Sometimes we are in situations where we must deliver in just two weeks,” said Bernd. “Even with our in-house plate production, it is not always possible with flexo. The Jet Press FP790 helps us meet those deadlines. It increases our productivity and gives us options.”

Delo’s Jet Press FP790 is already being put to work across a variety of packaging sectors. Bernd comments: “Our main focus is to print smaller runs. For example, very small jobs of around 1,000 metres are not an option for flexo. With the FP790, we can deliver these jobs quickly and still maintain the quality our customers expect. The machine is opening the door for us to take on jobs that previously would have been difficult to manage, while giving us flexibility to balance both traditional and digital production where it makes sense commercially.”

As the second company outside of Japan, and the first in Germany, to invest in the Jet Press FP790, Delo is playing an important role in showing how digital inkjet can complement existing flexible packaging production in Europe. “We see this as part of the next generation of packaging production,” said Bernd. “We have a strong foundation in flexo, and this investment allows us to continue growing while also embracing new opportunities in digital.”

Ralf Wilkens, Managing Director at Delo, adds: “The digital press is an additional tool to relieve pressure on our flexo production. Setup time on a flexo press is the same whether you are printing 4,000 metres or 400,000 metres, which is not always viable for small runs. With digital, we can handle those smaller sizes efficiently, while also giving us the flexibility to handle additional volumes where possible, all while continuing to keep our main accounts happy on flexo.”

The company also highlighted how the FP790 supports market changes: “We have quite interesting customers in our portfolio, and they challenge us with job sizes that don’t fit perfectly in our flexo setup. The digital press gives us the option to manage those smaller and mid-sized volumes more effectively, without losing time or capacity in our main production lines.”

Ralf adds: “We’re seeing a shift in job profiles. Very large runs will remain with flexo, but smaller and more customised runs are becoming increasingly important for digital. The FP790 allows us to handle those smaller sizes and tackle a share of the mainstream jobs in a way that makes sense commercially.”

The decision to invest in the FP790 followed discussions with Fujifilm’s packaging team and a visit to Eco Flexibles in the UK. Ralf explains: “The first time we heard about the Jet Press FP790 was when we visited Eco Flexibles and saw the machine in action, and three months later we decided to buy one ourselves.”

Delo was supported by Fujifilm in the sales and installation process. Ralf comments: “I am really satisfied with the support from Fujifilm. They were interested in solving our challenges from the beginning, and the overall support has been excellent.”

Manuel Schrutt, Head of Packaging, Fujifilm EMEA, commented: “We are delighted that Delo, Europe’s largest flexographic printer, has chosen to invest in the Jet Press FP790. Their decision confirms the growing importance of digital inkjet for flexible packaging. With this investment, Delo is strengthening its market leadership, taking on both short-run and mainstream production, while also helping to drive the industry towards greater agility and sustainability.”

New investment: The company has installed a Fujifilm Revoria EC2100S 5UPER COLOUR digital press to boost in-house production capacity.

Technology advantage: The press’s five-colour capability enables vivid colour reproduction, such as Pantone 1505 orange, allowing Indigo Ross to keep complex print jobs in-house.

Business impact: Keeping more work in-house improves quality control, turnaround times, and profit margins by reducing reliance on third-party providers.

Future outlook: Indigo Ross anticipates further efficiency gains as it explores the press’s automation features, enhancing scalability and competitiveness.

The fifth colour capability of the Revoria EC2100S is a game changer for the type of work we can produce ourselves.

Phil Roper, Managing Director | Indigo Ross

Full-service creative and print agency, Indigo Ross, has boosted its in-house production capacity with the installation of a Fujifilm Revoria EC2100S 5UPER COLOUR digital press. With a team of 14 and a turnover of around £1.2 million, Indigo Ross, based in Suffolk, has been providing quality design, print and web services since 1995.

Phil Roper, Managing Director, Indigo Ross comments: “We’ve always believed in staying ahead when it comes to digital print – our first ever digital investment was about 20 years ago. Over the years we’ve used many suppliers and now we’re pleased to be working with Fujifilm. It’s our first Fujifilm investment, but from sales to install it’s been absolutely spot-on. I can’t fault the team at all.

“When it came to choosing a new press, the Revoria EC2100S just made sense for us. The fact that it’s a five-colour model really sets it apart – that fifth colour capability is a game changer for the type of work we can produce ourselves.”

One recent job really highlighted that advantage. Phil continues: “A couple of weeks back, we had to deliver a 116-page annual job for a trade client – five colour, with a really vivid Pantone 1505 orange. Normally we’d outsource that to litho, but the turnaround was too tight. The Revoria’s fifth colour saved the day – we simply couldn’t have hit that orange digitally before. Now, we can keep these high-value, demanding jobs in-house and maintain full control over the quality and turnaround.

“Having that extended colour gamut means we’re not limited creatively. If a client wants a bright neon, a vivid brand orange, or something that needs that extra pop, we can deliver it without compromise, and that’s a huge selling point for us. It means better margins too, because we’re not paying a third party to do work we’re now more than capable of handling ourselves.”

Phil concludes: “Ultimately, nobody wants to outsource work if they don’t have to – that’s the bottom line. The Revoria EC2100S gives us the capacity, quality and extended colour range to keep more work in-house. It’s freeing us up to take on longer runs with confidence and gives us a competitive edge. And we’ve only just scratched the surface – as we get more familiar with the automation features, we’ll be able to push efficiency even further. It’s good to know we’ve got a machine that can grow with us.”

Spencer Green, Head of POD Sales UK, Fujifilm UK adds: “This is a real milestone for Fujifilm. Indigo Ross is one of the first in the UK to invest in the recently launched Revoria EC2100S 5UPER COLOUR press, and we’re delighted to be working with them as they produce high quality, value-added work for their customers. It’s a fantastic example of how this press’s five-colour capability is opening up new opportunities for printers to keep more work in-house and push creative boundaries.”

Robert Jupp, Director | XDP Digital

Founded over two decades ago, XDP Digital has grown from running a single small printer to being a fully equipped commercial print operation, serving local businesses and long-standing blue-chip clients across the UK. The fifth colour capability was the deciding factor for the Christchurch-based print business, as it became the first company in the UK to invest in Fujifilm’s new Revoria Press SC285S.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on being able to do nine out of ten things in-house for our customers,” explains Robert Jupp, Director at XDP Digital. “But we knew we needed something new to keep offering that ‘extra mile’ – especially with so many clients looking for fresh, high-impact print.”

The fifth colour capability of their new 5UPER COLOUR press proved to be the key differentiator for XDP Digital. By expanding into metallic, pink, white and clear toners, the company is opening up new creative possibilities for local marketing teams and in-house designers who want to make their materials stand out.

Robert continues: “When we showed customers the samples, they were blown away – especially with the metallics and the pink. “We looked at other suppliers, but what really impressed us about Fujifilm was the proactive approach. From the first conversation on the stand at The Print Show to installation and training, nothing was too much trouble.

The press has been installed for a few months and already, XDP Digital is seeing positive reactions to the new press, with early jobs for major garden centres showcasing vibrant pinks and seasonal colour palettes. Samples of the metallic colours have also generated strong interest across XDP Digital’s diverse client base, including marketing departments and retail clients looking to elevate their printed materials without resorting to foiling.

“The new press is faster, more robust and delivers excellent quality, but it’s the new creative options that really excite us,” says Robert Jupp. “In a market where print budgets are under pressure, this gives us a real USP.”

The XDP Digital team is already looking at additional opportunities, including exploring the Revoria E1 Series for high-volume monochrome work to expand into the publishing sector.

Spencer Green, Head of POD, Fujifilm UK, adds: “We’re delighted to partner with XDP with their investment, as they become the first company in the UK to invest in this innovative press – and become a new customer of ours. Their commitment to bringing fresh, eye-catching print to their customers perfectly matches what the Revoria SC285S was designed for – creative freedom, cost-efficiency and premium quality. We’re excited to see how they grow with these new capabilities.”

The science behind Fujifilm’s AQUAFUZE ink technology

Shota Suzuki, Technical Manager at FUJIFILM Speciality Ink Systems Ltd

Read the Article

Reading time: 6 minutes

In large format printing, the development of inks and ink technology has always been a balancing act. Print service providers have traditionally been forced to choose between durability, flexibility, print speed, media compatibility and environmental impact. Each ink type, whether eco-solvent, latex or UV, comes with its own compromises.

With AQUAFUZE, Fujifilm has introduced a new approach to ink chemistry that combines the best of water-based and UV-curable technologies while solving many of their long-standing limitations. This is not simply an improvement – it’s a materials science breakthrough that could reshape how the industry thinks about inkjet production.

In this article, Shota Suzuki, one of the lead developers behind AQUAFUZE ink technology, elaborates on the thinking, chemistry and technical hurdles that led to this innovation.

It all started with chemistry

My background is in synthetic organic chemistry, specialising in the development of new materials for industrial applications. I never started out thinking I’d work in inkjet, but the materials science perspective I was able to bring has been critical in tackling some of the toughest challenges in inkjet R&D.

One of the biggest of these challenges was stabilising UV-curable materials in a water-based system. That’s something the industry has been trying to crack for years. Water and UV monomers don’t naturally mix – they’re chemically incompatible. Bringing them together in a stable, printable and curable form took us nearly a decade of research at Fujifilm’s R&D centres in Japan.

When we started developing AQUAFUZE, we deliberately set out to avoid the compromises we saw in existing ink technologies. Some water-based UV systems on the market rely on water-soluble photo-initiators and monomers, which are prone to degradation and can shorten shelf life. Others, like latex inks, require very high curing temperatures, limiting media choice and increasing energy costs. Traditional UV-curable inks, while durable, don’t offer the same health and safety requirements in terms of odour and safety labelling that today’s customers expect. So, in developing AQUAFUZE, we knew we had to take a fundamentally different materials science approach – develop a stable, water-based UV-curable ink that avoids water-soluble components, cures at low temperatures, and eliminates the need for primers or optimisers. That’s what sets AQUAFUZE apart.

Emulsion is the key

We drew on knowledge from other areas of Fujifilm, including our work on thermo/pressure sensitive recording materials. This cross-disciplinary thinking led us towards emulsion design as the starting point.

At the heart of AQUAFUZE is a proprietary UV-curable emulsion. Traditionally, UV-curable monomers are extremely sensitive to water, leading to degradation or premature cross-linking if not properly handled.

Our breakthrough came when we developed a custom dispersant system. This system allows us to contain UV-reactive materials in such a way that they remain isolated from water until the exact moment of UV curing. This level of control meant we could achieve the storage stability and print performance we needed, all while using low-energy LED UV lamps for curing.

Why we avoided water-soluble photo-initiators

One of the critical decisions we made was to avoid water-soluble photo-initiators and monomers entirely. Other attempts to develop water-based UV ink systems have relied on these, but from a chemistry standpoint, I was concerned about the risks.

Aside from being relatively expensive, water-soluble photo-initiators and monomers tend to react too easily with water, which raises issues around premature decomposition and shelf-life instability.

Instead, in a true industry first, we focused on developing non-water-soluble photo-initiators and monomers. We worked hard to develop a dispersion process that would keep these initiators and monomers stable and uniformly distributed throughout the ink. This decision has paid off in long-term ink stability and highly reliable curing performance – both of which were non-negotiable for the large format print market.

Addressing real-world problems

Beyond the lab, we knew AQUAFUZE had to solve practical production problems for print providers. With solvent inks, long outgassing times can delay finishing. Latex inks require high curing temperatures, which can cause media distortion and drive up energy costs.

With AQUAFUZE, prints are ready for finishing immediately after LED UV curing, rather than having to wait hours, or even a full day. The curing temperature is low, around 40 to 45 degrees Celsius, so even heat-sensitive substrates can be printed without issue.

Another key feature I’m proud of is that AQUAFUZE inks don’t require primers or optimisers. The adhesion properties we built into the ink mean it sticks well to a wide range of media straight out of the printer. This simplifies workflows and reduces overall ink consumption and additional consumable costs. Moreover, the ink doesn’t require an overcoat, as latex ink does, due to the high durability of UV ink..

We’ve also ensured that the ink formulation is low odour and carries no hazardous substance labelling, making it safer for operators.

Because the chemistry behind AQUAFUZE is so different from conventional inkjet inks, existing printers weren’t compatible. This meant we had to develop a hardware platform that could handle the unique properties of AQUAFUZE.  This resulted in the development of the Acuity Triton – the first printer designed specifically for this ink. Of course, that’s just the starting point. We’re already in discussions about expanding AQUAFUZE compatibility to other platforms.

Looking ahead

Right now, AQUAFUZE ink is available in CMYK colours, and we’re seeing strong interest from industries like signage, wallcoverings, and vehicle graphics. But we’re not stopping there.

We’re actively exploring options for a higher speed/productivity machine, especially for customers with higher-volume production needs.

AQUAFUZE was developed as a direct response to what print providers have been telling us for years: they want inks that deliver durability and versatility without the compromises of existing technologies. Whether it’s reducing drying times, lowering energy consumption, or eliminating the need for hazardous chemicals, our goal was always to solve real customer pain points.

By combining water-based chemistry with UV durability and low-temperature curing, we’ve created more than just another ink. I genuinely believe AQUAFUZE represents a new category of wide format inkjet technology – one that blends the best of both worlds.

As customer expectations continue to evolve, materials science will remain central to inkjet innovation. AQUAFUZE is proof that when you approach ink development from a chemistry-first perspective, you can create solutions that truly change what’s possible in print production.

It’s been an exciting journey, and for us, this is just the beginning.

The white ink on clear film is very impressive and switching between substrates is also quick and seamless.

Andy Wilson, Managing Director | PressOn

Kent-based wide format print specialist PressOn has become the latest UK print business to invest in Fujifilm’s Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED, a high-performance printer designed for both rigid and flexible media. The machine was installed in June 2025 and is already delivering significant improvements in speed, quality, and media versatility, while supporting the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable production.

Founded in 1999, PressOn employs 25 people across two sites. The business serves a diverse customer base across retail, property, fleet livery, infrastructure and advertising, with a dedicated specialist vehicle livery division.

Andy Wilson, Managing Director, PressOn comments: “Large format digital printing is at the core of what we do, and we’ve deliberately always stayed broad in our offering. That diversity makes us more agile and resilient, especially in today’s fast-moving market.”

In late 2024, with two hybrid printers approaching end-of-life, PressOn began searching for a new investment that would meet the growing demands for faster turnaround times and improved media compatibility. After reviewing various technologies, the Fujifilm Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED quickly emerged as a standout.

“We looked at all the usual players in the market, but what really set Fujifilm apart was their approach to ink,” explains Wilson. “When we visited their ink manufacturing site in Broadstairs, it completely changed the way we thought about print technology. Most manufacturers focus purely on the machine, but Fujifilm starts with the ink. One of their team said something that stuck with me: ‘after everything else, the ink is what’s left behind.’ That perspective resonated.”

The Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED uses Fujifilm’s high-performance Uvijet UH inks, developed and manufactured in the UK. This local supply chain brings both sustainability and logistical advantages, eliminating risks around tariffs, currency fluctuations and overseas shipping.

Wilson adds: “The ink compatibility across multiple substrates is impressive and extremely beneficial. We get less marking on fabrics, and the white ink on clear film is also very impressive. Switching between substrates is quick and seamless, and the speed and quality are a huge step up from what we had before.”

The investment also supports PressOn’s commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable working environment. “UV printers often have a reputation for producing strong odours. Our last machine caused many issues for us due to this. But the Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED produces virtually no smell at all, thanks to the formulation of Fujifilm’s inks. It’s quieter, cooler, and doesn’t require additional ventilation. That’s a big deal for our team,” adds Wilson.

In the short time since installation, the printer has already helped the business to increase production capacity, take on new work and approach potential new customers with renewed confidence. And while PressOn doesn’t market its technology directly to customers, the benefits are felt in turnaround times and production efficiency.

Wilson comments: “Our clients haven’t noticed we’ve changed machine, which is a good thing. The transition has been seamless. But our team is impressed by the performance. It’s a major upgrade.

“The installation process was smooth, the training was exceptional, and the support team is incredibly responsive. It’s reassuring to know we’re only 45 minutes from their Broadstairs site, and we’ve already had engineers drop in proactively just to check everything’s running smoothly. That kind of service is rare. This is our first Fujifilm printer, but based on this experience, it won’t be our last.”

Mike Lewis, Wide Format Business Manager, Fujifilm Wide Format Inkjet Systems, adds: “We’re delighted to be working with PressOn, a company with an outstanding reputation for quality and innovation in the wide format space. The Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED is designed to deliver exceptional flexibility, speed and sustainability, and it’s great to see it already having such a positive impact on PressOn’s operations. We look forward to supporting their continued growth and success.”

Highlights

Technology investment: Kall Kwik Welwyn Garden City has installed a Fujifilm Revoria EC2100S 5-colour press to enhance print quality and expand its product offering, particularly in areas like art prints and wedding stationery.

Strategic growth: This purchase marks the latest in a series of technology investments by owner Phil Beverley, aimed at continuously improving customer service and operational efficiency since taking over the branch in 2018.

Partnership & process: The press was sourced through trusted Fujifilm partner Digital Printing Systems UK Ltd, with hands-on testing and expert advice playing a key role in the decision-making process.

Brand legacy: As part of a long-established UK print franchise, Kall Kwik continues its mission to offer fast, high quality print services to businesses and individuals, building on a legacy of innovation in digital and colour printing since the 1970s.

The fifth colour channel gives us massive advantages, and all at a price point that’s similar to what we’d be paying for CMYK only from other manufacturers.

Phil Beverley, Owner | Kall Kwik Welwyn Garden City

Kall Kwik, the well-known UK brand, was founded in the late 1970s to make fast turnaround print available to a broad range of small and medium sized businesses as well as to individuals. Owner Phil Beverley joined the Welwyn Garden City Kall Kwik branch in 2012 and then bought the business from the previous owner in 2018. Since then, he’s made a series of investments in both print and finishing equipment to ensure that the quality and efficiency of the service offered to customers continues to improve even more.

Phil explains: “Previously, printing timescales were expressed in weeks rather than days or hours, and print production was dominated by large corporations. Kall Kwik revolutionised the market with the early adoption of colour and digital print, making it possible for a much broader range of customers to get smaller quantities of print delivered to tight deadlines.

“This investment with Fujifilm is one of many I’ve made in recent years, and it’s a particularly important one. We’d been considering a replacement for our previous toner production press for a couple of years, and when we saw the Revoria EC2100S, we decided to take a closer look. We ran tests on the press at the Fujifilm demo centre in Luton, and based on that hands on experience, and the advice of Will Doherty at Digital Printing Systems UK Ltd (DPS), we decided it was the best fit for our needs.

“We’re very familiar and comfortable with Fujifilm engineering and design, having used many Xerox presses over the years, so investing in Fujifilm technology made sense to us. But in the Revoria EC2100S we also have the added benefit of a press that has been carefully engineered to include a fifth colour channel. This gives us massive advantages, and all at a price point that’s similar to what we’d be paying for CMYK only from other manufacturers.”

Phil anticipates the new press having a big impact on production quality and capabilities. “The addition of pink toner means we can hit a lot more pantone colours than we have been able to before and we can take quality levels up significantly as well. We do a lot of art prints – and anticipate being able to move a lot of that production from our inkjet printers. The EC2100S will also be excellent for short run booklet and magazine production, and image-heavy books. Fujifilm has also recently announced that silver and white toner will also soon be available. We do a lot of wedding stationery, so silver toner gives us a much more cost-effective alternative to foil for those sorts of products. Overall, we’re confident that this is a long term investment that’s going to help us as we continue to grow.”

On the sales and installation process, Phil comments: “Both Will at DPS, and Fujifilm, have been excellent to deal with. We trust Will for his impartial advice, and we’ve been hugely impressed with Fujifilm through the whole process. It really feels like they want to work with us to get the best out of the press, rather than just making a sale. That hasn’t always been our experience with other suppliers in the past. We were also very impressed that we got two full days of training as part of the purchase agreement – far more time than we’ve ever had for any other equipment investment.”

Andy Kent, General Manager, Fujifilm Graphic Systems UK comments: “Our new EC2100S and SC285S presses are designed to make 5-colour printing more accessible than ever – we call it 5UPER COLOUR. It’s hard to imagine a customer better placed than Kall Kwik to make this a reality in the UK. We look forward to working with them to bring the benefits of 5UPER COLOUR to more people than ever before.”

Oscar Ramon, Commercial Director | Grupo Grafico

Grupo Grafico, a leading provider of printing and visual communication solutions, has upgraded its production line with a Fujifilm Acuity Prime L to improve turnaround times, increase print quality, and meet the growing needs of its customers.

Founded in 1994, Grupo Grafico employs 14 staff and offers a comprehensive service that extends beyond production, including printing and visual communication. The company manufactures a variety of products – from signage to personalised packaging – catering to a diverse range of customers.

Oscar Ramon, Commercial Director at Grupo Grafico, comments: “The Acuity Prime L was installed in the first quarter of 2024. We invested in this machine to handle a higher volume of work, reduce delivery times, and improve product quality. That was exactly our focus, and it was clear that the Acuity Prime L offered all of this. We were able to test it several times with our team using real jobs, and we unanimously agreed we wanted this machine in our facility.”

Grupo Grafico has been operating for over 30 years and is committed to staying competitive through continuous investment in the latest technology. Mr Ramon adds, “We always try to stay well-informed about equipment and materials. Much of our work involves short runs, where every second counts. With the Acuity Prime L, we saw that job changes and subsequent printing were extremely fast, and the print quality is excellent. Beyond the gains in speed and drying, it’s a pleasure to watch it operate: fast, reliable, and quiet.”

With customers demanding increasingly fast turnaround times and high-quality products, Mr Ramon explains that the combination of speed and quality offered by the Acuity Prime L is crucial in helping to meet those demands. “It’s enabled us to substantially improve production efficiency,” he says. “Thanks not only to its speed, but also due to the zone-based production functionality for small-format jobs, which allows for tighter deadlines and longer runs.”

Large-format signage production has also become more efficient, resolving previous challenges with tight delivery schedules, Mr Ramon says: “Large-format signage was a bit of a challenge for us due to tight delivery deadlines, we often had to work overtime to meet them. Now, we operate more calmly. That’s the main production benefit.”

Grupo Grafico’s design and creative clients have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback after testing the machine with their own projects, and the team has also praised the Acuity Prime L for how easy it is to use, with intuitive operation, good reliability, simple user interface, clever machine design, and ease of ink changes. Mr Ramon says: “It’s on another level, that’s the phrase we’ve heard most from the staff using it. The ease-of-use stands out as the machine is very intuitive and reliable. The user interface is pleasant to work with, structurally the machine is well-built – and it looks good too! Furthermore, everything is easily accessible, and ink changes are simple.”

Grupo Grafico praised Fujifilm’s support throughout the sales and installation process, highlighting their professionalism and commitment to providing effective solutions.

With the Acuity Prime L in place, Grupo Grafico is well-positioned to expand its client base, deliver even faster service, and continue its growth in the competitive visual communications market.

Zoia Abdulkarim, Head of Artworks Finalizing Team | Sketches International

Founded in 2010 in Dubai and expanding into the UK in 2019, London-based Sketches International provides a broad suite of creative services including design, branding, video production, website development and high-end digital print. The team of five prides itself on offering more than just production, delivering an end-to-end service tailored to each client’s needs.

Installed in February 2024, the Revoria Press PC1120 has allowed the agency to expand its digital print capabilities across a range of applications, from stationery and stickers to special high-end packaging like luxury paper bags. With the ability to print six colours in a single pass and a wide variety of speciality toners, the press has quickly become integral to Sketches’ offering.

Nizar Al Olabi, Director of Sketches International, says, “We first discovered the Revoria Press PC1120 at Labelexpo 2023, and its ability to print with both white and gold toner immediately stood out. Initially, we were looking for a solution that could handle white ink, but the added capability of gold convinced us to move forward with the investment, and we’re glad we did. It’s opened up so many creative possibilities, from special edition packaging to high-end labels across over 20 different materials.

“The press’s outstanding colour quality, registration accuracy, and support for embellishment-ready printing have been game changers. We’re able to offer our clients a final product proof with metallic finishes – sometimes that’s what closes the deal. One of our standout offerings is being among the first in the UK to provide short-run stickers with special effects, which gives us a huge competitive edge,” Mr. Al Olabi adds.

In addition to the Revoria PC1120 press, the company invested in Revoria XMF PressReady, Fujifilm’s advanced print workflow automation software. The solution has helped streamline job onboarding, reduce setup times, and minimise errors, all particularly valuable for a compact team.

Zoia Abdulkarim, Head of Artworks Finalizing Team, Sketches International, comments: : “XMF PressReady has improved our efficiency significantly. It’s intuitive, reduces mistakes, and helps us run jobs quickly – even with a relatively less experienced team.”

The investment reflects Sketches’ commitment to staying ahead in the competitive and fast-evolving print and packaging landscape. By leveraging speciality finishes and automation, the agency is not only meeting the growing demand for personalised and short-run packaging, but it’s also winning new business.

“Our goal is always to offer unique, high quality solutions, and this partnership with Fujifilm helps us do exactly that,” comments Mr. Al Olabi.

Looking ahead, Sketches International is exploring the addition of wide format capabilities, potentially looking to purchase another Fujifilm machine to further diversify its creative and print services.

Mr. Al Olabi comments: “The Fujifilm team was incredibly supportive, especially during a tough period when our previous machine was damaged in a flood. They helped us turn things around, and now we’re better equipped than ever to deliver for our clients.”

Spencer Green, Head of Print-On-Demand UK at Fujifilm comments: “Sketches International perfectly demonstrates how creative vision can be elevated through advanced print technology. With the Revoria PC1120 and XMF PressReady, they’re able to push the boundaries of personalised packaging while optimising their production workflow. We’re delighted to play a part in supporting their continued growth and innovation.”

QPS Print invests in Fujifilm Acuity Prime to boost production speed and unlock new growth opportunities

QPS Print

Stoke-on-Trent, UK

Acuity Prime

Reading time: 5 minutes

Highlights

Technology investment: QPS Print has installed a Fujifilm Acuity Prime flatbed printer to significantly enhance production speed and efficiency, enabling them to handle higher volume print jobs.

Business growth: The new printer has opened up nationwide opportunities for QPS Print, allowing the company to expand beyond its local client base and pursue larger-scale projects.

Operational efficiency: Improved LED curing technology and better ink coverage have reduced energy costs and increased productivity, making the Acuity Prime more cost-effective than older models.

Strategic partnership: QPS Print’s 20-year relationship with Fujifilm played a key role in the purchase decision, with the company praising Fujifilm’s product reliability, service and support, and smooth installation process.

The Acuity Prime offers a significant uplift in productivity over our older machines, the speed and capacity were the biggest drivers for us.

Jamie Copeland, Managing Director | QPS Print

QPS Print, a Stoke-on-Trent-based large format print specialist, has installed a Fujifilm Acuity Prime flatbed printer to expand its production capabilities and take on higher volume work. Now in its 40th year, QPS Print began as a screen printing business before evolving into a full-service large format print provider. With a team of 25 skilled staff, QPS Print serves both trade and end-user customers across many sectors, including retail, leisure, hospitality and education to name a few – producing everything from signage to point-of-sale displays, murals and wall graphics and much more.

The business offers an end-to-end service, from concept and design through to manufacture, dispatch and installation, and has a long-standing relationship with Fujifilm, having worked with the company since the start of Fujifilm’s digital print era.

Jamie Copeland, Managing Director, QPS Print, comments: “Along with other Fujifilm products, the Prime will be our fourth Fujifilm Acuity machine. We looked at a number of machines, but the confidence we’ve built over the years in Fujifilm’s products, service and support made it an easy decision to opt for the Acuity Prime.”

Installed early 2025, the Acuity Prime has already delivered major gains in speed and productivity. Despite having the same bed size as previous machines, the uplift in performance has enabled QPS Print to take on longer print runs that were previously unfeasible due to time constraints or cost.

Mr.Copeland adds: “The Acuity Prime offers a significant uplift in productivity over our older machines; the speed and capacity were the biggest drivers for us. The additional throughput allows us to remain competitive and deliver on larger jobs that we could not do previously. The Acuity Prime has also helped us become more efficient in production – partly due to the efficiency of LED curing lamps compared to the previous less efficient ink curing system, reducing both energy costs and the need for ongoing lamp replacement.”

The printer utilises Fujifilm’s Uvijet UV ink range, which is specially designed for the Acuity Prime. Mr.Copeland comments: “The vibrancy of colour is excellent along with increased ink coverage giving a great print finish onto all substrates”.

With the improved speed and capacity, the new Acuity Prime has allowed QPS Print to target nationwide opportunities.

Mr. Copeland comments: “The investment in the latest machine allows us to expand our market and has given us new opportunities to go beyond local clients. We now have the capacity and are in a much stronger position to manage larger orders and service clients nationwide.”

Looking ahead, QPS Print is considering replacing older printers with new Acuity Prime models. “For the speed and cost in use, the Acuity Prime is an exceptional machine,” says Mr.Copeland. “There’s every chance we’ll look to upgrade in the near future with additional Fujifilm machines.”

With an ongoing partnership of twenty years, QPS Print was supported in the sales and installation process. Mr. Copeland comments: “The Fujifilm team were excellent throughout – we visited Fujifilm’s Broadstairs facility for machine demonstrations, and Fujifilm then conducted site surveys here at QPS and ensured everything was in place ahead of installation. The installation itself was completed in just a few days.”

Andy Webb, Head of Inkjet and Packaging UK, at Fujifilm, comments: “We’re delighted to see QPS Print building on their long-standing relationship with Fujifilm by investing in the Acuity Prime. It’s a versatile, efficient and high-performing printer designed to meet the challenges of today’s large format market. We’re proud to support QPS Print as they expand their capabilities and take on exciting new opportunities.”

Cactus Graphics invests in Fujifilm Revoria PC1120S to ‘disrupt the market’ with special colour capabilities

Cactus Graphics

Revoria Press PC1120

Highlights

Company background: Cactus Graphics, founded in 2021 in Dover, builds on 150 years of family print heritage while focusing on youth recruitment and modernisation.

Strategic move: In early 2025, the company invested in a Fujifilm Revoria PC1120S 6-colour press to replace an older 4-colour machine and stay ahead of the market.

Technology benefits: The new press offers high speed, energy efficiency, superior colour matching, and long sheet printing, with standout capabilities like white, pink, and metallic inks.

Market expansion: These new features position Cactus to expand beyond B2B into B2C markets, with greater appeal to creative agencies and enhanced brand output.

Strong partnerships: The investment was supported by excellent collaboration with Fujifilm and distributor Colyer, who provided hands-on guidance and full installation support.

It’s fast, the power consumption is remarkably low, the machine footprint is compact, the quality is excellent, and it also offers us long sheet capability as standard.

Katie Weaver | Managing Director & Co-founder | Cactus Graphics

Cactus Graphics, based in Dover, Kent, is a forward-thinking, modern print business, built on a print heritage that goes back nearly 150 years. Launched in July 2021 with a staff of five, the company was founded as a direct successor to Buckland Media Group (a family business which traces its origins to the mid-19th century). Managing Director, Katie Weaver, one of the Cactus Graphics founders, and the latest in a family line going back multiple generations at Buckland, runs Cactus Graphics with co-founder and Commercial Director, Richard Archer.

In early 2025 they invested in a Fujifilm Revoria PC1120S 6-colour press, with the machine installed in March. Colyer made the initial introduction of the Cactus team to Fujifilm and coordinated their visits to Fujifilm’s Luton showroom. They visited three times in all, including one visit in which their creative team brought files and designs to explore the usability and capabilities of the press in depth.

“We’re proud of the long heritage of the company,” says Katie. “But the fresh start we made in 2021, with a new brand, and a whole new look, was very intentional. We’re a young business in every sense of the word, in an industry where businesses all too often have an aging workforce and no younger generation coming through. We recruit youngsters regularly, straight out of school or college. We have kids through all the time doing work experience, and we have really strong links with universities and colleges in the local area – working with design students to teach them about the endless creative possibilities of print.

“We’re a forward thinking business, always looking at new technologies and what they have to offer. We needed to replace an existing press that was out of contract and we had a choice: replace it like-for-like with another 4-colour press – or be bold, disrupt the market and invest in something that was going to really set us apart.

“The 6-colour Fujifilm Revoria PC1120S wasn’t the only press we looked at with special colour capability – but it was the one that delivered by far the best overall package. It’s fast, the power consumption is remarkably low, the machine footprint is compact, the quality is excellent, and it also offers us long sheet capability as standard – whereas alternatives we looked at would have required significant additional cost”.

Richard Archer adds: “The colour matching ability we have now is phenomenal, which is fantastic for things like brands and logos in particular, and something our design agency clients will really benefit from. We also have orange and pink in the Cactus Graphics logo – so there’s an immediate benefit for our own marketing materials. With the combinations we can run now of white, metallics and pink – we’re also opening the door to a lot of potential B2C work, where in the past we’ve been mostly focussed on B2B.

“It feels like Fujifilm has been really intentional in the design and taken care to get it right. With some other presses it often feels like the additional colour stations have been crammed in as an afterthought to try to capitalise on recent rising demand for special colours – rather than designing a press around that special colour functionality.”

Both Archer and Weaver were impressed with Fujifilm, and with local distributor, Colyer, who handled the sale. “Both Fujifilm and Colyer were excellent to work with throughout the whole process,” Richard concludes. “Jonathan Lyons, Colyer’s Sales Director worked closely with our team and with Fujifilm throughout the process – including all meetings, RIPs, workflow specifications, and digital front-end configurations. Colyer also coordinated the entire delivery and installation process from start to finish. Both the Colyer and Fujifilm teams were great to work with and were enormously flexible with our requirements.”

Andy Kent, Divisional Manager, Graphic Communications, Fujifilm UK says: “Forward thinking businesses need technologies that take them forward. We’re delighted to have partnered with Cactus Graphics, equipping them with the tools, in the Revoria PC1120S, to take their creativity to even greater heights as they continue to grow their business.”

Jonathan Lyons, Sales Director at Colyer adds: “The Cactus team were a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Visiting the Fujifilm Luton showroom gave them a chance to see the Revoria Press PC1120S in action, and their confidence and decisiveness in choosing the right solution were impressive. We’re proud to have supported them in making such a forward-thinking investment.”
