Yann Madec | VAL PG

Based in Nantes, France, VAL PG is a printing company with 22 employees and a legacy dating back to 1968. Renowned for catering to diverse clientele across various industries such as boating, furniture, textiles and tourism, the investments are enabling the print company to continue to deliver high quality and short print runs, covering a range of applications such as fact sheets, brochures, poster books, and covers for sheet-fed offset work.

VAL PG’s investment decision was finalised in late June 2023, with a seamless installation process taking place in August 2023. Since then, the Revoria Press PC1120 has strengthened the team’s capabilities significantly.

VAL PG were introduced to the Revoria Press PC1120 during the 2022 Revoria launch ceremony in France, complemented by insights from industry contacts, notably Joaquim Ventura, Fujifilm France’s Graphics Director.

Yann Madec, the owner of VAL PG, comments: “Our previous toner machine was being terminated, which meant the consumable costs would have been significantly higher. Therefore, we were on the search for a replacement. The Revoria Press PC1120 appealed to us due to its advanced features, including its high production capability compared to other systems and versatile varnish options, including selective and textured options.

“The decision to opt for the full configuration, including additional colours such as white, pink, gold, and silver, set the Revoria press apart from other machines we considered during the evaluation stage.”

In addressing the challenges faced by printing businesses, VAL PG has witnessed the decline in sheet-fed offset volumes. While digital volumes are on the rise, the Revoria Press, in conjunction with other equipment and their partnership with Fujifilm, is helping navigate these challenges.

Yann comments: “We wholeheartedly recommend the Revoria Press PC1120. Since investing in it, we have been so impressed with the collaboration that we have also invested in Fujifilm Superia ZX plates, which have been in use since August 2023. These investments have not only strengthened our operational efficiency but also cultivated a new and positive relationship, characterised by clear communication, reliability, and trust.”

Taro Aoki, Head of Digital Press Solutions, Fujifilm Graphic Communications Europe comments: “We are thrilled to witness VAL PG’s seamless integration of the Revoria Press PC1120 and Fujifilm plates into their printing repertoire. This strategic move aligns with our commitment to delivering cutting-edge digital press solutions. We look forward to continuing our collaborative journey with VAL PG and supporting their endeavours for printing excellence.”

Our investment in Fujifilm’s LuXtreme and CuremaX technologies underscores our commitment to driving sustainability and innovation in print solutions.

Jamie Parker, Head of Operations at Paragon ID’s Hull site | Paragon ID UK

Paragon ID UK is primarily a flexographic label print manufacturer with additional capability in the production of RFID labels & access cards. Paragon ID, as a wider group, designs, develops and delivers secure contactless identification solutions including bank cards, mobile payment technology and train tickets based on smart technologies.

The partnership began when Paragon ID UK’s production site in Hull, driven by their own internal sustainability targets, made the decision to switch to Fujifilm’s Flenex water wash plates, which were supplied by trusted Fujifilm partner, Creation Repro in 2023. The relationship developed further when Paragon ID were introduced to Fujifilm‘s LuXtreme LED UV curing systems just prior to Labelexpo 2023. Paragon ID’s keen interest in the sustainability benefits of this solution in particular, led to the signing of three retrofit installations during the event.

Additionally, prior to the first installation in Hull, Paragon ID tested Fujifilm’s CuremaX inks and was delighted with their performance. This prompted Paragon ID to initiate the transition to CuremaX inks before the curing system installations began.

Despite the complexity of Paragon ID’s product portfolio, the installations of the LuXtreme systems proceeded smoothly, thanks to comprehensive onsite surveys conducted by IST.

Reflecting on the partnership, Jamie Parker, Head of Operations at Paragon ID’s Hull site, commented, “Our investment in Fujifilm’s LuXtreme and CuremaX technologies underscores our commitment to driving sustainability and innovation in print solutions. At our production site in Hull, we have spearheaded efforts to eliminate solvent emissions from magnetic stripes, transitioned to LED technology for energy savings, and embraced water-based solutions in relation to plate supply. By leveraging Fujifilm’s expertise and cutting-edge technologies, we are now able to deliver unparalleled value to our customers while maximising our environmental credentials. The investments have enabled us to realise a range of energy, time and cost savings while achieving unparalleled performance and productivity.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Paragon ID UK in their journey towards sustainability and innovation in print technology,” added Ian Isherwood, Segment Manager EMEA – Analogue Packaging, Fujifilm Europe. “By combining Paragon ID’s industry expertise with Fujifilm’s advanced solutions, we are confident in our ability to deliver comprehensive and sustainable print solutions to customers worldwide.”

Commenting on the partnership, Andreas Bosse, Head of Marketing at IST, stated: “We are excited to have facilitated the integration of Fujifilm’s innovative solutions into Paragon ID’s operations in Hull. This partnership marks the beginning of our collaboration with Fujifilm and underscores our shared commitment to driving technological advancement and sustainability in the print industry.”

  • Founded in 2009, MR has always been a digital-only packaging print business, producing short run packaging and protypes for major luxury brands.
  • At drupa 2024 the company confirmed an investment in Fujifilm’s Jet Press 750S for folding carton packaging.
  • The french packaging company decided the Jet Press was the right machine to support business growth.
  • MR was impressed by Fujifilm’s commitment to understand their particular needs to ensure the press worked exactly as they needed it to.
  • The water-based inks the Jet Press uses, and the recyclability of Jet Press printed products, were very important factors in their decision.
  • The Jet Press 750S investment is an important step in MR Cartonnage Numerique reducing their carbon footprint and environmental impact.

Founded in 2009, and a DIAM company since 2017, MR has been a digital-only packaging print business from the outset, producing short run packaging and protypes for major luxury brands. At drupa 2024 the company confirmed an investment in Fujifilm’s Jet Press 750S for folding carton packaging.

“The folding carton packaging market is growing,” says company founder and CEO Jonathan Mihy. “And within that market, short run work is increasing fastest of all. But achieving the necessary levels of quality, and being able to do so profitably, remains a challenge.

“We’re always on the lookout for new technologies to give us a competitive edge and to help us to grow,” Mr Mihy continues. “Ultimately, we decided the Jet Press was the right machine to help us do that, and there were a lot of reasons behind that decision.”

“We’d been looking into inkjet over a number of years, and became increasingly certain that our next investment needed to be in an inkjet press. We also wanted a B2 format size – so those criteria immediately put the Jet Press on our radar.

“When we started looking at it closely, we were even more impressed. Not just by the machine itself – but the lengths that Fujifilm went to, throughout the process, to ensure that it worked exactly as it needed to. We tested it exhaustively and Fujifilm were hugely supportive right from the very beginning until we were ready to make our decision. They worked with us incredibly closely to understand our challenges and particular needs and to answer every question. This is our first ever investment with Fujifilm and through the whole decision-making process they’ve been a pleasure to work with.”

Mr Mihy also has high praise for the press itself. “The colour consistency is excellent,” he continues. “That is so important for our clients. We can print a short run and then have complete confidence that we can match the colours exactly at a later date.”

“The up-time and reliability are also superb. The press is robust, built an offset-style chassis, and downtime is minimal. Furthermore,” Mr Mihy concludes. “the water based inks the Jet Press uses, and the easy recyclability of Jet Press printed products, were also very important factors in our decision. We’re committed, as a business, to reducing our carbon footprint and our environmental impact. Our Jet Press investment is an important step in that direction.”

Taro Aoki, Head of Digital Press Solutions, Fujifilm Europe adds: “The Jet Press has been setting quality and productivity standards in commercial print for more than a decade. We’re delighted now to see more and more customers recognising its potential for high-end, short to mid-run packaging, based on its wider colour gamut, consistent colour quality, flat tint reproduction and higher machine up-time. We’re honoured that MR Cartonnage Numerique has opted to partner with us to expand their business, and we look forward to a long future working together.”

Matt Saulsbury | EA Printing

Watch the video

Highlights

  • EA Printing invests in Revoria Press PC1120 enabling them to increase their print offering to customers.
  • Co-owner, Matt Saulsbury, sees the digital press investment and partnership with Fujifilm as positive steps for the future for the company.
  • The digital printing company works with a huge number of major UK and global brands offering a wide range of services.
  • The press features an advanced print engine with 10 colours, including gold, silver, white, pink & clear, easily configurable in six stations.
  • Aside from the special colours, EA Printing has noticed an improvement in productivity and quality compared to their previous press.
  • EA Printing is planning open days for creative agencies to come and see the creative potential of the special colours and effects they can now offer.

A small company in terms of size, Leicestershire-based EA Printing works with a huge number of major UK and global brands, both directly and through creative agencies. Offering a wide range of services, from digital print, to wide format, letterpress, die cutting, embossing and debossing, EA Printing specialises in complex, conceptual work that its customers find hard to get done elsewhere. Needing to replace an end-of-life toner device, the very hands-on business owners Matt Saulsbury and David Kennedy considered a range of options, before opting for the Revoria Press PC1120.

Saulsbury comments: “We’d never dealt with Fujifilm before, because until recently they haven’t been directly involved in the toner market in the UK. Though of course, as everyone knows, Fujifilm-made digital toner presses have been around for a long time, and we’d been using one ourselves for a number of years. I’d always been very impressed with the technology, so when I started seeing a few articles in the trade press about Fujifilm entering the toner market directly in the UK, I was interested. I know the quality of their products and I liked the idea of working with them directly.

“Ultimately it was a visit from a Fujifilm wide format sales rep that really got the ball rolling. He came to talk to us about wide format, but we quickly got talking about Revoria, and it all went from there.

“We did consider a few other options, including sticking with our existing supplier, but ultimately we decided that we needed to take the opportunity to invest in something that was going to help us differentiate our offering and grow our business, rather than just stand still and keep doing what we had been doing. When we’d decided that, the choice was obvious.”

EA Printing’s Revoria Press PC1120 was installed in late December 2023 and was put straight to work from early January. “It was incredibly busy right away,” Saulsbury continues. “Even before we were fully trained up on how to use it, we had jobs coming in. We really liked the fact that it had a white ink option, with all the requests we get now for printing on dark or coloured board. We’d also immediately seen the potential for the gold and silver ink options to win us high value work with metallic effects. But, somewhat to our surprise, the biggest advantage so far has been the pink ink – which has already won us some greeting cards work. The creative agency sourcing the greetings cards needed a print supplier who could produce fluorescent colours, and the florescent pink we can achieve on the PC1120 was exactly right for what they needed.

“The other advantage of the pink, from a much more practical point of view, is that we can now match far more pantone colours than we could before. We’re always getting customers bringing slightly unusual colours to us and asking if we can match them. With the pink, we can do that far more now than we could before.”

With so much more the company can now offer, EA Printing is planning some open days for creative agencies to come and see the creative potential of the special colours and effects now on offer. Aside from the special colours, Saulsbury also notes the improved productivity and quality they’re noticing compared with their previous press.

“The quality has surprised me.” Saulsbury confesses. “I knew it was a step up from what we had before – but hadn’t expected that step up to be as big as it has. We’ve really noticed it and we’ve had customers remark on it as well. “It’s also a lot faster than what we had before, which is particularly noticeable when we’re crunching through longer run print jobs. Then there’s the long sheet format option, which we can also duplex print from a high capacity tray. Taken altogether, it all adds up to a massive productivity boost.”

In a challenging market, Saulsbury is confident about his own company’s prospects and sees his new investment and partnership with Fujifilm as positive steps in facing that future.

Leading UK print company expands capabilities and enhances operational efficiency with combined investment in Fujifilm’s Jet Press 750S High Speed Model, Revoria Press PC1120 and Revoria Press E1 Series. Based in Walton-on-Thames, UK, Impress is a family owned business that has grown into an award-winning print business with a reputation for quality and sustainability. Over the course of more than three decades, Impress has delivered marketing materials for a diverse clientele, including both end-users and creative agencies.

After one of the company’s previous digital machines reached end of life, the team at Impress were exploring various options in the market. Michael Kille, Managing Director, Impress Print Services, comments: “The quality produced on our previous digital machine was good, but there were productivity issues. Now, the Fujifilm machines do what we need them to do straight away, with minimal downtime, enhancing our overall business productivity and efficiency. Furthermore, our production capabilities and our value offering have been significantly enhanced through the addition of B2 digital, which complements our litho offering.

“Additionally,” Kille continues. “The special colours on the Revoria PC1120 have really helped us to retain certain types of work that would previously have been B1 litho printed, and we’re delighted with the quality and productivity of the monochrome Revoria E1.”

The new presses have propelled Impress into new markets, such as short-run packaging (through the Jet Press), and enabled it to bring previously outsourced B1 litho work in-house (through the Revoria presses).

Impress is a business that prioritises sustainability; as evidenced through their commitment to recycling materials; their ongoing sustainability programme, and the harnessing of solar power for their own energy needs. When considering the investment, Impress placed huge importance on the overall environmental credentials of the new machines.

Michael comments: “Since installing the Fujifilm machines, we’ve seen a significant reduction in power usage. In particular, with the efficiencies created by the Jet Press 750S, its B2 capability and enhanced productivity, coupled with the lack of breakdowns and smooth workflow, our waste and downtime has reduced and output has significantly increased.”

He concludes: “It’s been a fantastic experience working with Fujifilm through the sales and installation process, and they are always responsive when providing ongoing support. They are truly one of the top suppliers in the industry. Thanks to Fujifilm, we now have the best in inkjet and the best in toner, and a business that runs more productively and effectively than ever before.”

Taro Aoki, Head of Digital Press Solutions, Fujifilm Graphic Communications Europe comments: “Fujifilm is unique in the market in offering the best of both toner and inkjet solutions and it’s always particularly rewarding to partner with businesses who recognise the enormous potential of the combination of these new technologies. But our market-leading technologies are only half of the story. We’re equally proud of the service we provide after installation as we help businesses to develop and grow. This bold investment from Impress is just the beginning, we look forward to working with them in the months and years to come as they grow their offering and their business and bring the benefits of best-in-class-toner and inkjet technology to their own customers.”

The ground-breaking wide format hybrid machine , which was released earlier this year, is highly versatile due to its ability to handle both rigid and flexible media.

The family-run wide format business was established in 1965, and since then, has been producing a variety of different signage applications for its consumers. David Allen, the company’s Managing Director, says his interest in the Acuity Prime Hybrid stemmed from its versatility and economical ink consumption.

Allen comments: “Due to our familiarity with hybrid platforms, we sought the Acuity Prime Hybrid as an opportunity to explore the Fujifilm brand further. The printer has now allowed us to carry out our normal production with minimal issues and excellent quality and ink performance.”

Allen adds that the Acuity Prime Hybrid’s versatility has enabled his business to print on a wider variety of substrates more efficiently and cost-effectively. The machine is already being used to print on wall coverings, direct to board and even metallic surfaces.

Impressed by the printer’s ease of use, Matt Ryder, Print Specialist at Allen Signs, says: “We tried a job on the new Fujifilm machine, and instantly, it tracked. It was perfect. As for materials, we are yet to come across a substrate that doesn’t work.”

Having built a partnership, based on trust, with Fujifilm, Allen adds: “Fujifilm has been an absolute breeze to deal with. The installation and the training were extremely quick and efficient. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Acuity Prime Hybrid printer will allow us to expand our business in the future.”

Andy Kent, Division Manager, Fujifilm Graphic Communications UK, states: “We are delighted to hear that our wide range of customers are more than satisfied with our printing technologies. As a result of Allen Signs investing in our Acuity Prime Hybrid, they have seen significant increases in print quality and a reduction in costs, whilst expanding their substrate selection. It’s fantastic to see them exploring new business opportunities.”

Alessandro Conte | Byblos

Byblos, an industry leader in high quality print production, founded in 1992, has recently made a strategic investment in Fujifilm’s Acuity Prime 30 wide format flatbed printer. This acquisition has allowed the company to attract a broader customer base, win new business opportunities, and position itself for continued success in meeting customer demands for high quality and customised wide format printing.

With a firm commitment to delivering exceptional wide format printing solutions, the Acuity Prime, installed in May 2023, is the latest addition to their advanced production line-up. Equipped with seven ink channels, CMYK, White, Clear, and Primer, and powered by the ColorGATE RIP, the new printer is empowering Byblos to expand its production offering to include unconventional materials such as wood composite and glass.

The decision to invest in the Acuity Prime 30 was driven by Byblos’ dedication to superior quality and the opportunity to experiment with different types of media and finishing techniques – such as being able to achieve a satin or glossy finish. According to Alessandro Conte, Managing Director of Byblos, these capabilities have been very well received by their clients. Furthermore, the excellent support provided by the Fujifilm team played a significant role in solidifying the partnership.

Conte is enthusiastic about the investment: “The Acuity Prime has transformed our production process and elevated our ability to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Its impressive speed and remarkable quality have exceeded our expectations. We can now deliver personalised, high-quality printing in shorter turnaround times, and unleash our creativity by printing on unconventional materials. This gives us a competitive edge in the market.”

The Acuity Prime 30’s remarkable ink quality enables Byblos to work with a wide array of materials, including various metals and glass, when using a primer. The ink demonstrates exceptional adhesion, with stunning precision and vibrancy in every print. And the durability of the ink allows it to withstand the effects of chemicals and cleaning agents, ensuring longevity and exceptional print quality.

Alessandro Conte, Managing Director of Byblos, concluded: “The Acuity Prime 30 investment is transforming our business. With its unmatched print quality and the ability to work with diverse materials, we have exceeded our clients’ expectations. This investment has not only fuelled our growth but has also solidified our position as a leader in the industry.”

Daniele Carino of Fujifilm Italy added. “The Acuity Prime 30, part of Fujifilm’s ‘new blueprint for wide format’ has been exceptionally well received since it was launched two years ago. It was built to deliver versatility, value and ease-of-use, and we’re delighted that Byblos has become the latest company to recognise its potential and take advantage of it.”
